PLD project

Year group – Reception
This was our first week of our exciting new PLD project and the team got together to discuss what we wanted gain from this project. We brainstormed a few ideas and came up with our aim and also what we wanted the outcome to be from the project. We decided that we would focus on getting children to independently apply their Phonic knowledge when writing, this includes getting them to think about each word they are writing and what sounds they can hear in the words before writing it down. The children also need to be able to form and recognise each sound/letter so they can use this correctly when writing. We also discussed whether communication and language played a part in children ability to write.
By next week we will have assessed the children we think are suitable and need an extra little push by asking them to produce a piece of writing unaided and then a piece with support. We are also going to assess them using the phase 2 oral blending and segmenting sheets we use for our Reception Phonic assessment.
